Fans across the globe have shown their love for the latest installment of the Elder Scrolls series, as Zenimax Media Inc. have announced that Bethesda Softworks award winning title Skyrim, has managed to ship a whopping 7 million units for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC via Steam, which is expected to generate more than$450 million in global retail sales. Fans lined up on the streets at midnight 11th November to get their hands on this eagerly anticipated title, hopefully without any swordplay when trying to get to the tills!

Further proof that Skyrim has received an immense global reception, is the fact that sales continued to grow after it’s release date, with 50% of launch units selling in the first 48 hours alone with large reorders being requested to Bethesda Softworks by major retailers across North America, Europe and Australia. Not only has physical copies of the game sold well, Steam has reported a massive influx of people wanting to own the game and in doing so have set a new record, with 280, 000 concurrent players have managed to by far outdistance any of their other available titles by a country mile. The Chairman and CEO of Zenimax Media, Robert Altman is clearly happy with what has happened, saying:

“We are grateful for the fans’ response to Skyrim. Todd Howard and his team at Bethesda Game Studios have crafted a very special game. Anticipation for Skyrim has surpassed any game in our company’s history, and we are pleased that sales and reviews have reflected the quality and hours of amazing gameplay it provides.”

Todd Howard, the Game Director for Skyrim happily agrees with this and is happy that the fans now have the opportunity to play this amazing title by saying:

“Without a doubt, this has been our most ambitious project ever. After over three years of development, we’re finally excited to get it into everyone’s hands.”

Well the people that have worked on the title are ecstatic and not only has Skyrim done extremely well and set records, but critics have hailed this game with many perfect scores from websites and magazines around the world, with high praises such as “One of the greatest games every made” and a “masterpiece”, and you can be sure that our review for this title will available for you to look at in the near future.
