Donkey Kong Fans Go Bananas For Donkey Kong Country Returns!

You might think the headline for this particular piece of news is playing on the whole Apes loving bananas aspect and usually you would be right, but not on this occasion.

Believe it or not, earlier today eager Donkey Kong fans queued up at select GAME stores across the UK just so they could get their hands on the big apes latest adventure…in exchange for a bunch of bananas. That’s right, a bunch of bananas! The first 20 people in the queue didn’t shell out £40-£45 for the game, they handed over a bunch of bananas instead.

A genius marketing idea, if we ever saw one and can only hope more games in the future will be available in exchange for fruit. Instead of charging £40-£45 for Metal Gear Solid: Rising, we think Konami should accept melons as a form of payment. It’s the least they could after butchering the tasty fruit in the most the recent gameplay demonstrations.

Donkey Kong Country Returns is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Wii.
