Sony Officially Announces PlayStation All-Stars Battle RoyaleSony Computer Entertainment Europe have come out to confirm the rumours that had been circling the internet, that the company was working on a multiplayer brawling game in the same vein as Super Smash Brothers.

The title will be called PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, and will be exclusively available for PlayStation 3. It is in development at SuperBot Entertainment, and the title is planned for the “holiday” 2012 release window.

The title will pit some of the most well-known characters from Sony games against one another – in stages inspired by the games they appear in – as well as other popular PlayStation franchises – such as LittleBigPlanet, Ratchet and Clank and God of War 3. Four players will be able to pummel their way across the different levels, playing as such well-loved icons as Kratos (God of War), Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal), Parappa the Rapper, Fat Princess, Colonel Radec (Killzone), and Sly Cooper, among others. Sony have also promised that a variety of third-party characters will be included for unlock or download, and these will be announced further down the line.

The game is looking very similar to Super Smash Brothers so far, so let us hope that it also plays as well.
