Valve Announce Steam Greenlight

by on July 10, 2012

Valve-Announce-Steam-GreenlightValve has today announced Steam Greenlight, a new platform feature that will use community feedback to help decide what games make it onto Steam.

Developers and publishers will be able to post info about their game in a bid to gain the support of the Steam community. Greenlight will work alongside Steam Workshop, that already allows customers to leave ratings and feedback.

Anna Sweet of Valve said:

Making the call to publish or not publish a title isn’t fun. Many times opinions vary and our internal jury is hung on a decision. But with the introduction of the Steam Workshop we realized an opportunity to enlist the community’s help as we review certain titles and, hopefully, increase the volume and quality of creative submissions.

The new Greenlight feature will certainly help smaller developers gain exposure, who knows it could help bring through the next big hit.

Steam Greenlight will be released 30th August this year.
