The latest Kickstarter project that is making a splash is The Mandate from Perihelion Interactive.
With 46 days to go, they’re looking for $500,000 in funding and have already raised $100,000. For those that don’t know, it’s a sci-fi RPG co-op sandbox affair, where up to six people can play together. Expected to be released in Q1 of 2015 on Windows PC, Mac and Linux, the game is inspired by the likes of XCOM and Fallout.
Today, the developer has unveiled their Character Prologue Creator. This enables players to create their own characters via the game’s website. The whole thing sounds pretty cool, the deeper you delve into it. Executive Producer Ole Herbjørnsen, explains further:
“In The Mandate, players take on the role of a disgraced captain called into action under a sense of desperation. The Character Prologue Creator allows players to pick the events leading up to their court martial and sentencing. The game starts a few years later when the player is released from prison.
Depending on what they choose to have done, their faction standing will change dramatically. They can pick the planets that they explored, the tasks they undertook, and the crimes they committed. Once the game is released, players can continue to be a thorn in the side of The Mandate, work with the rebels, act within the law… or however they choose to explore.”
The team is made up of some talented people that worked on the likes of Far Cry 2, Assassin’s Creed II and Call of Duty 3, as well. So, there’s plenty of pedigree there.
