Gone Home’s Steve Gaynor Talks Oculus Rift And The Future

by on January 22, 2014

Steve Gaynor, of The Fullbright Company and Gone Home fame, has revealed that work on integrating Oculus Rift has been halted. In an interview with the International Business Times, Gaynor stated that while it has been stopped, it’s not completely off the table. Gaynor cited several reasons including UI issues as the reasoning behind the decision.

“We have basically stopped active development on. We looked into it and what we discovered is that really, for a game to be good on Oculus you have to design it for Oculus.”

In the same interview, Gaynor also talked about the future. He stated a new title will be in development later in the year, but nothing is set in stone yet. He explained everything is still in the planning stage. When asked about what gamers can expect from the new title, he had this to say;

“We want to take what we made with Gone Home and expand it, and explore from that experience as a starting point. The other side of it though is that we don’t want to do something that’s just more of the same game any more than fans would want to play that. It’s a balance.”
