Christmas Gift Guide 2018

by on December 16, 2018

With just over a week to go, you’ll be sitting down with loved ones as they unwrap their presents, and truth be told, there’s nothing worse than seeing that stifled look of disappointment as they tear back the wrapping paper to reveal a gift so dull not even your worst enemy would want (underpants and socks, I’m looking at you). The thing is, there’s loads of awesome gifts on the internet you might not know exists, so this year, like a reliable doggy that brings you the newspaper, we’ve got you covered. Below are some of the coolest presents out there, and buying one of them for that loveable nerd in your life is guaranteed to put a smile on their face.

Opposuits ‘Merry Mario’ Christmas Suit (Opposuits, £74.95)

Have you got someone in your life that likes looking dapper but also adores that chubby plumber (Mario, not the Kev from the local plumbers)? Opposuits continue to release some of the coolest suits out there with their new partnership with Nintendo, and this one is the first of many, with more set to be released in 2019. They already have loads of other geeky suits featuring some of the most notorious franchises out there, such as Marvel, Tetris, Pac-Man, and Star Wars, so if you’re looking for an outrageously cool suit to where at your office party or even whilst munching on your Christmas dinner, they’ve got you covered. The ‘Merry Mario’ suit is bright blue and features a Christmas design featuring Super Mario, expertly designed and extremely comfortable. Honestly, it’s a no-brainer.

Atari Retro Handheld (Fun Stock Retro, £34.99)

The Atari was one of the first computers out there to bring video games to the world, and even though we’re so used to seeing stunning visuals in today’s day and age, games like Pong and Asteroids still hold up. Fun Stock Retro have released the Atari ‘Retro’ Handheld, featuring 50 built-in games to play at your finger tips. It runs on 4 AA batteries, and also has an A/V output. It looks great with its wood effect casing, and plays as well as you remember (if you’re as old as us!). It’s a great price to pay to enjoy some of the greatest video games of all time, including Centipede, Missile Command, Break Out, and Millipede.

Ttec Powerstones Trio Powerbank (Amazon, £39.99)

Ttec has released their new Powerstones Trio Powerbank, and it’s a godsend for those of you who have more devices than you know what to do with. It’ll make the perfect gift if you need to charge multiple handheld devices at the same time, thanks to its twin battery packs, providing a long lasting charge that allows devices to be charged twice over from each Powerstone. The LED indicator lets you know exactly how long is left, and provides a safe and efficient charge, and with its light weight and pocket size, they’re easy to carry wherever you’re going. This is certainly an item you’ll want to buy for the friends in your life who have lots of devices in need of charging.

Marvel’s Avengers Thanos Mug (I Want One of Those, £12.99)

There’s nothing better than a nice warm cup of tea on Christmas morning, and after a pretty bleak year in the Marvel Movies i.e. almost every Marvel character died, this cool mug is the least they could do to make up for it. Complete with every Infinity Stone, the Infinity Gauntlet mug is nice and big, so you’ll be able to fill it up, open your presents, and try to forget about those final moments of Infinity War when everyone disappeared into oblivion *sigh*.

Star Wars Stormtrooper Decanter (Amazon, £13.33)

For those of your friends and family that enjoy a Christmas tipple with their dinner, or just like to consume alcohol around the fesive period, these Thumbs Up Stormtrooper decanters are a must-buy. Holding 750ml of spirits in Super Flint Glass, it’s a fancy gift that looks awesome. So if you know someone who’s having a rough time on the Dark Side, lighten them up with this cool gift.

4D Cityscape Game of Thrones Puzzle (Amazon, £49.99)

Those opening credits to Game of Thrones have become iconic in modern pop culture, so imagine a gift that allows you to build them in an amazing 4D puzzle? Whether your favourite location is Winterfell, King’s Landing, or Dragonstone, you’ll be able to build the whole of Westeros with this incredible 4D puzzle. Winter may be coming, but so are hours of concentration and fun!

PlayStation ‘Icon’ Lights (Menkind, £24.99)

There’s no denying that console wars should be a thing of the past, as we’re all very fortunate to be able to play so many wonderful games across all three of the biggest consoles available, but for those that grew up with PlayStation, those four iconic symbols mean a lot to so many people. Now, you can buy this awesome PlayStation Icons Light which will sit nice amongst any gaming set up. Featuring three light settings, such as music reactive and colour phasing, it’s a definite purchase for those Sony lovers in your life.

Smartphone Projector (Menkind, £19.99)

Christmas is a time for filming those special moments on your phone, and sharing those memories for all to see via this Smartphone Projector is a great idea. It’s easy to assemble projectors images by 8 times thanks to the built-in lens. Whether your filming your children opening their presents, taking a cheeky photo of granny falling asleep at the dinner table, or recording those drunken shenanigans after a beer or two (or five), this Smartphone Projector will make a great gift, allowing your favourite moments to be seen by everyone.
