Incredible New Watch_Dogs Video Mirrors the PS4 Conference Trailer

Say what you will about Ubisoft, but right now the French outfit is enjoying the benefits of some amazing IPs. Despite the recent Rayman: Legends debacle, we’re still looking forward to the next outing of the limbless wonder; then you’ve got Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Splinter Cell: Blacklist and the possibly-dead-but-we-hope-not Rainbow Six: Patriots on the horizon, alongside this: Watch_Dogs, an open-world hacker/stealth/vigilante cook-off that first made waves when it contributed to Ubisoft arguably “winning” last year’s E3 event in LA.

Recently outed as a PlayStation 4 launch title (and likely to hold a similar accolade on Microsoft’s yet-to-be-revealed next-gen console), Watch_Dogs is the story of hacker Aiden Pierce, who uses a combination of technology and street smarts to bring law to the lawless. Able to hack into the central operating system of near-future Chicago, Pierce can pull up anyone’s information in seconds, from place of birth to the money in their bank account. He can manipulate traffic lights, junction boxes, electronic bollards; he can rob you blind without coming within 10 feet of you and he can really mess up your day with a few taps of his finger. But he’s a good guy. Mostly.

This latest gameplay video shows the events first seen in the PlayStation 4 Conference trailer aired on February 20th, but from the point of view of Chicago’s ctOS Threat Monitoring System – which is a handy way for Ubisoft to give us a little more info on the kind of tricks Pierce can employ on a daily basis.

There are a whole bunch of reasons in this trailer to be excited about Watch_Dogs, from the living world full of character and detail to Pierce’s handheld wonder-gadget and the way his coat – his coat – moves when he runs, rolls, climbs, fights. Check out the trailer below, and be prepared to need this game in your life.

Watch_Dogs will be available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Wii U and Windows PC in Q4 2013.
