Kinect Sports: Season Two is Swinging for the Fences at PAX

Hit the bullpen and start warming up on-deck because Rare and BigPark today are showcasing the first look at America’s favourite pastime – Baseball – for “Kinect Sports: Season Two” at PAX Prime. Fans are going head-to-head during the convention in pitcher-versus-batter split-screen showdowns, experiencing the precision and accuracy of Kinect for Xbox 360 with every strikeout pitch and homerun swing.

The team at Rare and BigPark are pushing the boundaries of the Kinect technology, adding in-game voice commands and the most advanced body-tracking that’s appeared on the platform to date to bring the action of the diamond into your living room like never before.

When “Kinect Sports: Season Two” launches on 28 October, sluggers and aces will play both offense and defence to see who can score the most runs during a two inning game.

On offense, you’ll step into the batter’s box and swing away with the ability to aim hits left or right by swinging early or late, depending on where the fielders are playing. You can bunt, get a base hit, or give your swing more pop by stepping into it or using your voice to call in the Star Batter who has a higher chance of hitting a homerun – this stellar pinch hitter can only be used once per game, so coach wisely. Once the ball is in play, it’s up to you to run the bases and beat out the throw, sliding if it’s going to be close!

When you take the field it’s time for your arm to do the talking. Take the sign from your catcher, wind up, and fire it in there! Depending on your arm speed, you’ll be able to throw a variety of six pitches from a mean slider to a tricky curve to a good old fashioned heater. Like hitting, you’ll have the option to use your voice to call in your Star Pitcher once per game. His fastballs make hitter’s heads spin, so be sure to use him when you need that crucial third out. If your opponents do manage to put the ball in play, you’ll have to flash your leather and showcase your lightning reflexes by tracking the hit and making the catch to keep runners off base.

“Kinect Sports: Season Two” launches exclusively on Kinect for Xbox 360 on 28 October and is rated PEGI 3. It will include six exciting new sports, including Baseball, Skiing, Tennis, Football, Golf and Darts. Competitive fun for the whole family, fans around the world have made “Kinect Sports” the bestselling franchise on Kinect for Xbox 360, with more than three million games sold to date – the most of any Kinect title.
