Ecco the Dolphin Team Launch Kickstarter for The Big Blue

Ecco-the-Dolphin-Team-Launch-Kickstarter-for-The-Big-BlueThe MegaDrive had some memorable titles, sure. One that lives in the memory of whoever played it, is Ecco the Dolphin. The acrobatic underwater creature could talk to his kind and get nuggets of wisdom only found in fortune cookies.

Well, it’s time to rejoice because the team behind the MegaDrive/Genesis classic is getting back in the saddle…scuba diving suit, whatever. The Big Blue is the “next generation, underwater, action/adventure game” from the original Ecco team, and you can give them your money through Kickstarter.

Aiming to raise the ambitious sum of $665,000 in 34 days, The Big Blue is looking good at this early stage, as can be seen in the screenshots on their Kickstarter page. Spencer Nilsen, the man behind the music on the original Ecco the Dolphin game, has signed up to compose, alongside Bear McCreary, who is known for his work on TV with The Walking Dead and Battlestar Galactica.

If the project gets funded in the alloted time, The Big Blue is scheduled for release on PC, Mac, iOS and Android in April of next year. 665k seems like an awful lot when kids think Ecco is just the brand of their school shoes, though. There might be life in the old fish-that’s-not-a-fish-because-its-a-mammal, yet.
