Xbox-Head-Doesn't-See-Valve-as-CompetitionWith next-gen system reveals stealing the spotlight as of late, people are forgetting about Valve’s entry into the console market with the “Steam Box“. Xbox’s president of Interactive Entertainment Business Don Mattrick, hasn’t forgotten, but does not see Valve as competition for their audience – as we’ve seen via The Verge. At Microsoft’s Tech Forum, Mattrick was posed a question about Valve’s living room PC – codenamed “Bigfoot” – and whether it is viewed as a competitor for Xbox. In response, he said;

“[Valve] is doing some innovative stuff … The scale of products and things that are being brought to market are probably a little bit richer when I look at Sony, Nintendo, Apple and Google.”

Very few details are known about the illusive “Steam Box”, yet to claim it’s not a competitor is a bit short-sighted. In the PC market alone, Valve’s number of users is astounding and if they can enter the minds of console gamers in the same way, Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony definitely have to take notice.
