Cloud 9 and SFZ Play Longest Pro Dota Game Ever

by on March 23, 2015

What started out as a simple second game in a BO3 StarLadder qualifying match between Cloud 9 and ScaryFacez turned into a record setting Dota game over the course of three hours.

The game took place on Friday evening and started out as any standard game would. It was actually a very entertaining game for the first 50 or so minutes, then the turtling started to occur, resulting in a stalemate that went on for hours.

The final game time was three hours, twenty minutes and 34 seconds (3:20:34). At one point towards the end multiple graphical glitches occur that sees a number of heroes set on fire and random rocks fall from the sky. Full stats and broken records from the game can be seen over at TheScore eSports.

A much deserved shout out goes to the two casters of the match; former pro gamer Purge and friend of the site OD Pixel. They managed to keep the whole experience interesting and entertaining, despite there being extremely long periods with little to no action. Also OD’s hype in the final minute or so was brilliant!

The VOD is so long that it had to be split into two parts the first of which is available here and the 2nd here. It is certainly worth a watch just because of how crazy the game becomes at certain stages, I also expect you will learn a lot about hyper late game Dota, I know I certainly did.
