Silent Hill: Downpour Officially Announced

by on January 24, 2011

Konami have today officially announced the eighth game in their hugely popular horror series, Silent Hill. The latest iteration is to be titled Silent Hill: Downpour and will see players take the role of Murphy Pendleton, a convict stranded in Silent Hill after his prison transport bus mysteriously crashes.

Pendleton begins the game on outskirts of the Silent Hill as that is where the bus crashes, but he soon finds his way into the spooky town. According to Konami, the environmnts in Downpour will be “expansive”, “claustrophobic” and Pendleton will never be “truly alone”. You can always count on Silent Hill to welcome visitors with open arms!

To add to that, Konami have also announced that acclaimed composer, Daniel Licht (Dexter), will be producing the soundtrack for Silent Hill: Downpour. If you’re unfamiliar with his work we suggest listening to the quite awesome theme music for Dexter and then imagining a similar piece of music in Silent Hill: Downpour. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

UPDATE: No need to imagine, check out the 90 second sample of in-game music composed by Mr Licht himself in the video below.
