Backbreaker: Vengeance Trailer Shows The Heavy Hitters

Often the domain of the 2D platformer or experimental oddity, the Xbox LIVE Arcade is not exactly overloaded with sporting titles, particularly American Football, a sub-genre utterly dominated by the Madden series.

So it is pretty interesting to see 505 Games and NaturalMotion Games’ new title, Backbreaker: Vengeance, is going to be released on the Xbox LIVE Arcade this summer. To get the competitive juices flowing, 505 and NaturalMotion have let slip some details and snuck a trailer onto YouTube, which we are more than happy to reveal to you.

Backbreaker is a franchise that has cropped up on consoles before and, recently, versions of the game appeared on the iPhone. Backbreaker: Vengeance is going to attempt to recreate the pick-up-and-play nature of the iOS title whilst still providing a deep gameplay experience. Central to that experience will be the tackling engine, which claims to have no “pre-canned” animations, ensuring that every monster collision is unique.
