Final Fantasy, oh how we love you! Despite a lukewarm reception for the latest title in the franchise (Final Fantasy XIII), anything Final Fantasy related still gets us excited here at GodisaGeek.

Square Enix have today announced that Final Fantasy V is in development for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable, and will be released via the PlayStation Network!

The hugely popular and critically-acclaimed FINAL FANTASY V returns, with original fans and new adventurers able to indulge in a true gaming classic at home and on the move.

Players will experience CG cinematic sequences exclusive to the PSN edition, which were all-new for the PlayStation One update of the original SNES title. Players will discover the early days of renowned FINAL FANTASY gameplay features including the Active Time Battle system, mini quests, magic summoning and much more.

One day, the Tycoon King, upon feeling an irregularity in the air currents, rushed to the Wind Shrine, only to find the Wind Crystal shattering to pieces right before his eyes. In addition to this catastrophe, an enormous meteor had fallen to the ground, causing earthquakes in the surrounding land near Tycoon Castle.

Unbeknownst to them, this event is about to bring four people from different walks of life together on a common journey filled with new encounters and many mysteries.

There is no release date yet for Final Fantasy V, but it is set to be available via PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3 and PSP.
