It Seems the XCOM Shooter Could Be in a Spot of Bother

It-Seems-the-XCOM-Shooter-Could-Be-in-a-Spot-of-BotherWith the rip-roaring critical success of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the shooter has a lot to live up to. But, where is it? First shown off in 2010, all has been quiet on 2K Marin’s XCOM lately and through Digital Trends, we’ve seen that things may be worse than we thought.

Tipped off by a reader, Digital Trends recently reported that the shooter’s website leads to a 404 error. On top of that, it appears that the official 2K Games YouTube channel has removed all videos of the game.

Recently, there have been rumblings that the game has now become a squad-based, third person shooter – in the same vein as SOCOM. Originally, the game was scheduled to be released in March of last year, yet a string of delays has led to people wondering whether it’s even in development anymore. However last February on a conference call, 2K did confirm that the game was still in the works.

Troubled development cycles are never a good sign, but we’ll just have to see how this one plays out.
