Sony Announces PS Vita TV

by on September 9, 2013

In a huge announcement today, Sony have confirmed that PS Vita TV is on its way (via VG247) – a wee device that will allow you to use your Vita in conjunction with your telly, and something that will tie in effortlessly with the PS4 thanks to its remote play support:

“As with PS Vita, PS Vita TV will also support PS4 remote play and Wireless Controller DualShock 4 through future system software update. This will allow users to enjoy most of the PS4 games on PS Vita TV as if they are playing it on the PS4 system.”

The device, which was announced by Sony in Japan, will enable gamers to run Vita, PSP and PS One Classics, as well as any video and movie shenanigans you may have on your handheld – at 720p, 1080i and 480p. Obviously the Vita titles will be limited to those that do not rely on touch screen controls. It will support two DualShock 3 controllers. It has a Vita card and memory card port, and comes bundled with a HDMI lead.

At 6.5 x 10.5cm, it is a tiny little thing, and is due to hit Japanese stores on November 14 priced at 9954 Yen, which in sterling is the thick end of sixty five quid. There will be a PS Vita TV Value Pack bundled in with a white DualShock controller and a 90 Day PS+ trial, that is due to set Japanese consumers back Y14,994 (around £95).
