Sony shutters Guerrilla Cambridge months after RIGS releases

by on January 12, 2017

Sony closes Guerrilla Cambridge as reported by gamesindustry.biz.

Guerrilla Cambridge will have all its employees laid off. Sony claims this decision was “regrettable” and they are doing this to deliver on their strategic objectives that requires making changes to European studios structure. Guerrilla Cambridge made the amazing Killzone: Mercenary on PlayStation Vita and recently RIGS for PlayStation VR. In fact this closing comes a few months after RIGS and PlayStation VR launched.

Sony’s statement to gamesindustry.biz also has the following:

“Whilst we accept that this decision will mean that we risk losing high calibre staff, by focusing on other Studios with exciting new projects in development, (including continued work on PlayStation VR), we believe we will be in a stronger position going forward and able to offer the best possible content of the highest quality to our players. This decision should not take anything away from the incredible games and services that Guerrilla Cambridge has delivered.”

Thanks, gamesindustry.biz.
