Far Cry 5 headsets on the way courtesy of Ubisoft and Thrustmaster

Are you looking forward to Far Cry 5? Do you need a new set of cans to help you experience it? If you answered yes, then you’re in luck.

Ubisoft have once again teamed up with Thrustmaster to create some gaming accessories based one of their games, this time it’s Far Cry 5. Two headset models are on the way, and are actually quite reasonably priced.

The pricier set is the Y-350CPX 7.1 Powered Far Cry 5 Edition subtitled ‘The Ultimate Weapon. This will retail for £89.99 and will feature 7.1 virtual surround sound along with high resolution audio and perfect bass reproduction just to make those explosions a little more ear splitting. Here’s a full feature list for you:

  • High-performance microphone: unidirectional, detachable and adjustable. Designed to target the player’s voice only, for the most effective communication with teammates, and the least amount of interference.
  • Y Sound Commander unit for customizable control of the integrated 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound technology, an on/off mic switch, and the ability to toggle hearing your own voice through the headset on or off.
  • 60 mm/2.36” drivers for the most powerful bass available in the console gaming market.
  • Memory foam cushions for effective passive isolation, combined with electronic bass boost built into the controller, provides double electro-acoustic bass amplification.
  • Professional-grade fit and finish with memory foam cushions, noise-reducing foam microphone cover and a red, white and blue braided cable.

If £89.99 is a bit too much for your tastes, then the Y-300CPX Far Cry 5 Edition is a more modest £49.99, and while it lacks it’s big brother’s 7.1 virtual surround sound it will still have high performance audio rendering meaning you’ll still hear everything crystal clear and with no audio lag in a hectic firefight. A few more handy features are:

  • Unidirectional, detachable and adjustable microphone, for perfect customization.
  • 50 mm/1.97” drivers.
  • Exclusive double electro-acoustic bass amplification technology.
  • Multifunctional controller to adjust the game’s audio levels, as well as the bass level.

Both headsets will be available when the game launches on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on March 27. Stay tuned for our review.
