Sam Fisher Brings the Noise in New Splinter Cell: Blacklist Trailer

Sam Fisher Brings the Noise in New Splinter Cell: Blacklist TrailerUbisoft’s confirmation at E3 of the return of everyone’s favourite mildly psychotic spy, Sam Fisher, was met with whoops and cheers, and with good reason. Sam’s been quietly kicking ass and taking names for ten years and, despite one or two blips, has a seriously impressive record.

In the latest trailer for Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, President Caldwell grants Fisher the oft-referenced Fifth Freedom, granting him total immunity from prosecution and effectively giving him free reign to do whatever it takes to stop the titular Blacklist.

The franchise has moved further and further from the true stealth gameplay of the early titles, almost going full-fat action blockbuster in 2010’s Conviction, and Blacklist looks to continue the trend of presenting stealth as an option rather than a restriction.

The decidedly brutal trailer gives us a further taste of the kinetic gameplay and a deeper insight into Fisher’s modern world. It looks as though interrogations will return from Conviction, and they’ll be even more aggressive this time round – and now that all those family troubles are behind him it appears that Sam is back to doing exactly what he does best.

Just try not to pay attention to the fact that our frog-suited hero looks and sounds a decade younger than he did two years ago.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist is being published and developed by Ubisoft and is currently slated for release in Q1 2013.
