Broken Sword 5 Announced by Revolution via Kickstarter

Broken Sword 5 Announced by Revolution via KickstarterRevolution Software have announced that they are hard at work on the fifth game in the Broken Sword series, entitled The Serpent’s Curse. The game will see George Stobbart and Nico Collard – the heroes from all of the earlier games – re-unite for a brand new adventure. The game will revert back to its classic 2D roots, featuring fully hand-drawn backgrounds, albeit with 3D models used for the characters in-game and then captured for animation frames. This will be a welcome return for fans of the series, and will mean that the game can be released across multiple platforms.

Along with the announcement, Revolution have started a Kickstarter project here, which will help determine how the game develops from now on. If the game is successfully crowd funded, the studio will be able to make the project much more a labour of love and tailor it to the requests of the fans, whereas if it fails – an outside publisher will need to get involved, and Charles Cecil (head honcho at Revolution) believes this would put some added restrictions on development.

They also released a new video, to show off the style of the new game below. We can see some of the characters involved, and how the game is shaping up – which we at GodisaGeek are getting very excited about. The series is one of the all-time great Adventure Game franchises, and it is made by an independent British development studio – so it will be great to see it make a return. Why not see for yourself?

Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse will be released during the first quarter of 2013 for PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android devices – all going well. Console versions are a possibility, but Revolution cannot confirm that at present.
