New Behind-the-Scenes Video for Castle of Illusion

by on May 31, 2013

After some internet speculation, SEGA announced only last month that they were working on a re-imagined new version of their classic platforming title Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse. The re-make will be coming to Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network this summer.

A new behind-the-scenes video has been released by SEGA, that features many of the team who have worked on the new game, explaining how they went about re-imagining such a well-loved title. Interestingly, the video also features Emiko Yamamoto – the Director of the original game – who has acted as an advisor on the new project.

We actually get to see the first gameplay footage of the new version – interspersed with footage from the old one – and the animation and art style is looking highly impressive. The game looks to be shaping up as both a fitting tribute and an exciting modern title. In the meantime while you wait for the release of the title, why not check out our coverage of the sequel to Castle of Illusion, as we look at World of Illusion in the Retro Corner.
