The BBC has finally seen fit to release its ubiquitous BBC iPlayer service to Xbox One owners, a little over a year after the Xbox One launched in the UK.
An inside source at the BBC blamed the delay on integrating the console’s (then) required Kinect sensor functionality into the video streaming app. Microsoft requires that all apps released on its fledgling platform use the Xbox One’s open API for Kinect control, something the BBC wasn’t really in an rush to commit to.
Anyway, its about bloody time this app turned up. We have just taken it for a spin and it works, so, one less reason to turn the computer on. Get downloading, UK Xbox One’ers.
