Update: The rumours were all true then! Called Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, the game is set in London, 1868.You play as Jacob Frye, a young assassin, whose backup are the street gangs of Victorian London, the titular syndicates. Jacob likes to get his hands dirty, with a ‘head-on’ approach to problems.
Syndicate is set to have a more brutal, closer combat – based on the idea that by this point in history it wasn’t normal to stroll the streets with a sword strapped across your back. Armed with a revolver, a knife and a set off brass knuckles it’s certainly a change for the series, and it looks like the climbing buildings mechanic has been all but dropped, with a rope launcher allowing you to climb the highest buildings in seconds and zipline between them.
There’re even vehicles you can control, driving horse and carts through the streets of London.
Syndicate will be out October 23 on PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC version to follow.
