Tobii and Ubisoft announce entirely new eye tracking features for The Division on PC

Games developer and publisher Ubisoft has announced that their partnership with Tobii will bring new eye tracking features to The Division, exclusively for the PC when it’s released on March 8.

Tobii, the global leaders in eye tracking, are bringing technology to The Division that will be a world first, allowing gamers to simply look at an enemy and tag them, making non-verbal communication between team mates feel more natural. If you have one of the Tobii eye trackers (Tobii EyeX, SteelSeries Sentry or MSI GT72 S Tobii), you’ll be able to tag the enemy simply by looking at them, along with ability to aim your weapon, throw a grenade, find cover and tag items and locations on the mini map.

The eye tracking technology will also affect the way you view the game. In terms of camera angles, you’ll be in full control of what you see, giving you an unobstructed view of the action and having your HUD appear by looking at a certain part of the screen, meaning it won’t be on screen all of the time.

“Ubisoft is innovating the way we as humans interact with games in The Division,” said Oscar Werner, president of Tobii Tech. “We are still at an early stage in our long-term ambition to create a widespread adaption of eye tracking in games. Integration in a major title like The Division is an important step on this journey.”
