Rockstar Announce 10th Anniversary Version of Grand Theft Auto 3

by on October 13, 2011

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of Grand Theft Auto 3, Rockstar Games have announced that the title will be heading to a select number of iOS and Android devices, including the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, this autumn. As Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games says:

Grand Theft Auto III showed us the potential of open world games.

It helped set the vision for the company, and we have been expanding on those
possibilities with every game ever since.

Attendees of the 2011 New York Comic-Con will get the chance to try out the mobile versions of the game for themselves ahead of launch, as well getting the chance to win special edition merchandise to tie in with the anniversary. Those unable to make it to the New York Comic-Con will be able to purchase the merchandise from the Rockstar Warehouse, which relaunches today.

One of the items that will be available for purchase is a limited-edition action figure of Claude, the main character of Grand Theft Auto 3. The fully atriculated 1:6 figure, produced in partnership with Sideshow Collectibles, comes with a range of classic Grand Theft Auto 3 weapons, not to mention the oh-so dashing orange prison jumpsuit, which is seen in the game’s opening cinematic. True to the in-game version of Claude, the action figure will also be unable to speak.

The figure, which is set for release on October 20th and is limited to 1500 pieces, will set you back $149.99, but if you head on over to the Rockstar Games Social Club you can enter a sweepstakes to win one of 3 figures.
