Apple In Talks to Buy company Behind Kinect (Rumour)

by on July 16, 2013

Apple has apparently offered $280 million to buy the 3D sensor specialist Israeli fabless semiconductor company Primesense, the company behind initial designs for the first Kinect sensor for Xbox 360. Theverge also reports that Apple have been in discussions with Primesence over the embedding of its tech inside Apple products.

Those of you with fingers on the pulse of the consumer tech world may know that this isn’t the first time Apple has been sniffing around Primesense, as CultofMac.com first reported some 3 years ago now, things could have been very different had Apple got hold of the tech before Microsoft did.

What sort of use do you see for Primesense tech in future Apple devices? Duel camera wielding smartphones? Or something more subtle? Let us know in the comments section below.
