Kojima Makes Official Apology

by on February 1, 2010

In this day and age gamers are no strangers to game delays, specially if you live in one of the less supported regions of the world, to the point that it has almost become expected in some cases for certain games to get pushed back. What we are not accustomed to however are big time game producers making public apologies to the masses for said game delays (but then this is why we have always  loved Kojima-san – aishiteru yo!).

As stated last week, the Japanese version of the PSP’s Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (could we want this game any more than we already do? the answer is NO!) was delayed. This has resulted in Kojima himself making a public statement in his blog on the Kojima Productions Blog.

“I always preach to the staff, ‘You must not have a delay after a release date has been announced. There is no greater crime as a game developer,” Kojima stated. He further went on to mention that “Official announcement of a release date is nothing less than a promise to fans and business partners. In other words, a release date change is like betraying the expectations of everyone… It probably takes a long time to earn back trust that has been lost. However we will work hard, with the hope that we will one day earn the support of everyone again.”

So there you have it. If you needed any more reason to love the man (which you shouldn’t) this would be it.
