New Soul Calibur V Characters Teased

by on July 6, 2011

The sixth instalment of the Soul series of fighting games from Namco will be released in 2012, as Soul Calibur V is in development for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Along with Soul Edge/Blade, the Soul Calibur series has been one of the most popular and enduring beat-em-up franchises in recent memory. So when a new game is announced, there is usually a lot of hype. To add to that hype, Soul Calibur 5 director Daishi Odashima, has revealed that two fighters will be shown off at the San Diego Comic-Con later this month. He tweeted a silhouette image of a male and female combatant, but it is unknown if these will be all-new or returning fighters.

The new game will be set seventeen years after the previous entry in the series, Soul Calibur IV, and the protagonist of the game will be a brand new character – Patroklos – who is also the son of long-time series favourite Sophitia. A full line-up of characters is yet-to-be finalised, but it has been confirmed that series stalwart Siegfried will be featured.
