Star Wars Mod Released for Call of Duty 4 (PC)

Have you ever wondered what you’d get if you crossed two of the world’s largest franchises: Activision’s Call of Duty with LucasArts’ Star Wars? Well the guys at BlackMonkeys.de have done just that. Over the past couple of years, the team has been working on a Star Wars mod for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Titled Star Wars Mod: Galactic Warfare, the modification brings the Star Wars universe into the ever popular Modern Warfare game engine. What more could one ask for?

Watch the Star Wars Mod: Galactic Warfare release trailer below:

Modding has long been an aspect of PC gaming culture, something that’s not often passed on to console gamers, due to restrictions of the platform. Desert Combat bought modern day combat to Battlefield 1942, GoldenEye Source was a recreation of the 90s classic Nintendo 64 GoldenEye 007 and probably the most famous PC game mod of all time Counter-Strike added terrorist/counter-terrorist multiplayer scenarios to the Half Life engine, later evolving into a fully fledged retail title.

Star Wars Mod is available for download now. You’ll need a server browser to actually find servers to play on, such as HLSW, an original Half Life server browser which has been around since the days before Steam – it has of course since been updated to work with other games including COD.

The mod initially comes with 7 maps: Mos Eisly, Bespin, Bestine, Not A Cave, Jundland, Jundland Dusk and Anchorhead. Some Modern Warfare features are available,  including Killstreaks, namely Viper Droid and Air Strike, which will spawn Y-Wings and Tie-Bombers.
