As part of an update to God of War: Ascension, a fighting game type mode has been added.
Bout of Honor is a new mode for the game that allows players to face off in 1v1 matches in four newly designed environments; Chamber of the Flame, Landing at Delos, Canyons of Kirra and Streets of Sparta. In a best of seven match that resembles a traditional fighting game, players will be able to hack n’ slash their opponent, as they see fit.
Quentin Ramsey , who is a designer at Santa Monica Studio, took to the PlayStation Blog to outline the details for this new mode:
“The team has made some balancing tweaks especially for Bout of Honor to ensure matches are fought in a fair and honourable fashion. Infinites have been removed, overpowered weapons tweaked, and damage from 100 per cent combos adjusted.”
For those that enjoy the game’s four player multiplayer, a new map which takes some inspiration from God of War: Ascension’s campaign. The Whirlpool of Alecto will have the regular mayhem from a versus stage, but with an extra leviathan thrown in, for good measure.
All of this new content is available for free and just included in the patch, so Kratos fans need not worry about forking over some extra money.
