The Last of Us Director Reveals Alternative Ending

by on August 6, 2013

Naughty Dog’s critical and commercial success The Last of Us, may have had a completely different ending to the one you saw in the retail copy of the game.

SPOILERS AHEAD – APPROACH WITH CAUTION

Creative director Neil Druckmann took to Twitter recently and showed an image of a woman that looks awfully familiar (Annie Wersching’s character of Tess, perhaps) holding a knife to the throat of a battered and bloodied Joel.

Of course, this image is released shortly after Naughty Dog’s Reddit AMA where another, happier ending was discussed. At this year’s PAX Prime in Seattle, fans will be able to find out more about the game as Druckmann and game director Bruce Straley take centre stage in their panel entitled, Pitching The Last of Us. The blurb for the panel reads as follows:

“Neil and Bruce will pull back the curtain to show you their original pitch for The Last of Us… and giving everyone at this panel a look at how close or far the final game ended up from the original pitch.”

The ending of The Last of Us has proven to be a little bit divisive among fans. Some people loved the open-endedness of it, whilst others were looking for something a bit more final. What did you think? Let us know in the comments section, below.
