Skylanders: Swap Force 3DS Arriving This Autumn

by on August 29, 2013

Activision have announced that there will be a Skylanders Swap Force game released for 3DS this Autumn and, as with the previous handheld versions of Skylanders, it will be a unique title that stands separately alongside its console brethren.

This handheld entry will be even more unique, however, sporting its own three characterrs and a narrative dedicated to the 3DS.

Rattle Shake, Volcanic Eruptor and Free Ranger are the three characters you’ll get alongside the handheld versions, three characters that are completely different to the three available with the console game. No more doubles for buyers of both.

As for the plot, well, that all starts in Boomtown, home of Skylands’ favourite pilot Flynn. As the town is celebrating Flynn as their hometown hero, a new villain known as Count Moneybone sneaks his way into Boomtown to kidnap Cali, long-time friend to Flynn and the Skylanders. Now it’s up to Portal Masters everywhere to assemble the Skylanders and SWAP Force to save Cali and defeat the evil Count Moneybone.

Also, in line with the console versions of the game, the level cap for figures has been raised from 15 to 20. Huzzah, indeed, for levelling.

Skylanders Swap Force will be available for console and 3DS on October 18th. It will be interesting to see if the recently revealed 2DS will see a rise in sales for the handheld version…
