Harmonix Launches Kickstarter for Amplitude Remake

by on May 6, 2014

Harmonix has turned to Kickstarter to fund an Amplitude remake.

They’re looking for $775,000 to fund the remake of the 2003 cult classic. I may be wrong in my facts, but I think that’s a lot of money.

At the time of writing they’ve already received $140,028, with 17 days left to go.

For those of you who don’t know, the original Amplitude was a musical rhythm action game that paved the way for the likes of Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

When answering the question they asked themselves, ‘Is it a sequel?’, they said:

“Our aim with this Kickstarter is to be humble in our expectations. The current goal is to make a faithful Amplitude “HD” – the core experience from PS2® re-developed for modern gaming devices. We certainly have LOTS of crazy ideas that could blow this concept out. Your contribution, feedback, and community input will decide where this project will land and how many crazy ideas we can incorporate!”

The reboot will be coming to PS3 and PS4 if funded, with a Vita port one of the stretch goals. Check out the pitch below.
