Square Enix has today announced that the highly renowned fifth instalment of the Dragon Quest series, Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, is arriving on both iOS and Android devices today. The game is priced at £10.99/14.99€, with that getting you the whole game with no additional downloads needed.

The RPG, which is regarded as one of the best games in the Dragon Quest series, was created by the extremely talented trio of Yuji Horii, Koichi Sugiyama and Akira Toriyama, originally released in 1992, but only in Japan. However, it was very well received upon it’s European release on the Nintendo DS, in 2009.

Now the story – that follows the life of a young boy as he matures into a man and goes on the journey from being a son, to being a father, with all the friends and monsters he meets in-between – has been brought to Mobile devices thanks to the simple and intuitive controls. They’re designed to work perfectly with the vertical layout of mobile devices, and facilitates both one-handed, and two-handed play.

The game offers a vast world to explore, eccentric characters to meat, monsters to recruit and battle with, and secret treasure to find. Other features include: AI battles where you can instruct you allies to do the fighting on your behalf; a casino, where the token you win can be exchanged for items; party chat, so you can talk with the cast of characters, for advice or just even lite conversation; 360 degree views, and the return Bruise the Ooze, the mini game which was introduced in the DS version of the game.

The game is available to download today.
