God of War: Ascension Multiplayer Details

God-of-War:-Ascension-Multiplayer-DetailsIt seems every game is set to come with some form of multiplayer these days, even a game based on I Am Legend would probably feature co-op, with one player taking on the role of the dog. Anyway to the story at hand, God of War Ascension will feature multiplayer, but what kind?

At a recent preview event it was revealed that the new God of War will feature a 4 on 4 battle mode.  The multiplayer mode won’t feature Kratos, but instead fully customisable characters. Players will able to swear allegiance to gods in order to gain special powers, strengths and weaknesses. There will also be a full leveling system as well as upgradable armour and weapons.

The idea around this multiplayer mode is more complex than first appears, with players not only having to fend off the other team but also battle it out with AI monsters. In fact the main goal is not to eliminate the other team but instead to take down a massive enemy who goes around destroying everything in its sight.

Sony have yet to nail down exactly how many multiplayer modes the game will include so there is still potential for more to be added. It was also confirmed that single player is still a massive focus but the news wasn’t all good. Sony have already confirmed the game will have no local spilt-screen support and no drop in/drop out mechanics, but perhaps most worryingly of all they confirmed the single player campaign will be shorter than previous games. This is a big shock given how short God of War 3’s campaign already was.

So some positive and some not so positive signs from Sony about the new God of War, what do you make of all the new information?
