DLC in Mass Effect Trilogy is Lacking, as Playstation 3 Owners Await Release DateOne of this generation’s most beloved series’ is BioWare’s Mass Effect, which concluded with a polarizing effort among fans, earlier this year. Regardless, many love the Mass Effect trilogy and there was a lot of buzz about all three games being bundled together and coming to 360, PS3 and PC. However, all isn’t exactly as it may have been perceived.

Originally scheduled to release on 7th November, the trilogy will now come to US Xbox 360s and PCs on 6th November and PlayStation 3 owners are left in the lurch – there is no announced date on when potential buyers of the PS3 version will be able to purchase the collection. On top of that, there is still no news on if/when the trilogy will be coming to the UK. Most notably, though, is the lacklustre amount of downloadable content included in the package.

The PC version will have the Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station add-ons from the original, the Cerberus Network DLC for Mass Effect 2 and an online pass for Mass Effect 3.

Those that purchase the 360 Mass Effect trilogy will only receive the Cerberus Network DLC for Mass Effect 2 and the online pass for Mass Effect 3. Whilst, whoever buys a PS3 copy may be shafted even further as BioWare are yet to reveal what packs – if any – will be included with the PlayStation version.

Shoddy. This is the only word that sums this up, minus expletives. Most traditional collections that have seen the light of day lately have been proper collections. Proper collections that are full packages. This is another misstep by BioWare, in my humble opinion. However, let’s hope that this sees the light of day over here as the Mass Effect series is, despite the ME3 hate, one of the best in recent memory. Be aware, if you do pick it up on release, you’ll have to stock up on MS Points, or pick up some PSN cards, ’cause if you want to play Lair of The Shadow Broker, you’re gonna have to pony up a little bit more. Just delightful, isn’t it?
