4A Games, known for bringing us Metro: 2033 and Metro: Last Light, have announced plans to open a new studio in Malta, in preparation for expanding their AAA development capabilities. The Ukraine studio will stay open. CEO and Head of Business Development; Dean Sharpe has said:

“By basing our new headquarters in Malta, a member state of the EU, 4A Games will be able to better compete on the international stage. Malta offers fantastic incentives for game development, and we are confident 4A Games will be able to attract the very best talent from Ukraine, Malta and beyond.”

Creative Director and Co-Founder Andrew Prokhorov, who will be moving to Malta with Chief Technical Officer Oles Shishkovstov, has said about the move:

“This marks the start of a new chapter for 4A Games. We are proud of our achievements as a young studio, and humbled by the response to our output so far. The team is looking forward to this new adventure.”

It’s always good to see expansions in the industry and hopefully this will only improve 4A Games’ work, which includes un-announced titles within the Metro universe.
