Pac-Man Launched into Space to Mark 35th Birthday

by on May 22, 2015

Pac-Man is 35 years old this year, and to celebrate this – and the famous yellow circle’s upcoming appearance in the film Pixels – Sony Pictures has sent him into space. The 3D printed Pac-Man was attached to a big helium ballon and reached a height of 34,949 metres, a video of which you can watch below.

A survey done to mark the event found that 90% of Brits recognise Pac-Man, while 61% want to go to space. Pac-Man himself appeared in Japan in 1980, taking his name from the Japanese term for munching, ‘paku-paku taberu’.

God is a Geek: we can be educational.
