Nintendo Switch Online Service to cost approximately (£14 – £21) yearly, looking into VR

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima revealed some details about the Nintendo Switch Online Service to Nikkei.

The paid online service will cost 2,000 to 3,000 Yen yearly for Japan which works out to between £14 and £21. I expect the subscription to cost closer to £30 per year in the UK though. He says they will be able to fully commit to customers with a paid service. There will be a smartphone app for chat and monthly classic game downloads in the online service. In comparison, both PS+ and Xbox Live Gold cost £39.99 per year in the UK so Nintendo’s service will be cheaper but they are yet to reveal all the details.

In addition to the online details, Kimishima said Nintendo is currently studying Virtual Reality for Nintendo Switch. They are working on resolving issues with playing in VR comfortably for long hours before supporting it on Nintendo Switch. No time frame for VR has been provided.

Nintendo Switch will go on sale on March 3 with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as a launch title among others.

Thanks, Nikkei.
