Microsoft announces price increase for UK Gold subscribers from August.

by on April 4, 2019

It is all doom and gloom in the UK at the moment and to add insult to injury it seems that the cost of an Xbox Live subscription is due to increase later this year.

The news comes as several users on Reddit report receiving a message notifying them that the price of a Gold subscription will increase from £39.99 to £49.99 effective from 7 August.

The text reads:

“As of May 08, the 12-month subscription fee for Xbox Live Gold is increasing from £39.99 to £49.99 to address changing market conditions. All current subscribers will keep their current subscription fee for 90 days. You will be charged the new price effective August 7, 2019 unless you choose to cancel your subscription before the next scheduled payment. For more information: https://support.xbox.com.”

The price increase now brings the cost of the subscription in line with Sony’s PlayStation Network Plus.

The price change will only come into force with new subscriptions on or after 7 August, so it may be worth extending your subscription now.
