343 Get the Hype Machine Rolling With Release of First Halo 4 viDoc

343 Get the Hype Machine Rolling With Release of First Halo 4 viDocToday is the first day of the annual Game Development Conference in San Francisco, and 343 Industries has chosen today to show off an early glimpse of Halo 4, the first Halo game since Bungie handed development duties to 343 after the completion of Halo: Reach.

The video starts, aptly, with the end sequence from Halo 3, and the developers go on to discuss the mythology, legacy and art style of past Halo games. 343 are making a big thing of making the Halo series their own, as such we get a glimpse of a slightly modified Master Chief, oh yea, that guy is back in this game too. The viDoc doesn’t actually show a whole heap of gameplay, but what we do see looks disconcertingly visually similar to 2010’s Halo: Reach, we can infer that Halo 4 is using the same game engine, so if you were expecting a wholly different Halo game this time around, at least from a visual stand point, you’ll probably be waiting until Halo 5.

We do get a glimpse of some interesting looking facial motion capture work going into the game, similar in many ways to what was seen in Rockstar’s L.A Noire last year. Perhaps Halo 4 will feature some helmetless dialogue from the man himself!? We will have to wait and see..

“Why are you still talking!” I hear you cry. Ok, you can watch the video now, but be sure to stay tuned to GodisaGeek.com for all the latest on Halo 4.
