A giant turtle swims lazily by through beautiful, calm blue waters; a herd of deer graze on a sun-dappled hillside above a beach of golden sand that glints like polished amber - and somewhere a bunch of drug-addled psychos torture, terrorise and murder Jason Brody’s friends.
Welcome to the Rook Islands, the visually-stunning archipelago across which Far Cry 3′s cadre of killers, lunatics and drug-runners run amok. At a glance it’s a tropical paradise that a man would kill to own, but a deeper examination reveals the corruption and horror that have infested it.
Jason Brody, the protagonist of Far Cry 3, is an american traveller who visits the Rook Islands with his friends and finds himself taken prisoner by mohican’d nut-case Vaas. After witnessing the torture and murder of several of their number, Jason manages to escape, vowing to free them all no matter the cost – even if that means lowering himself to the same base level as the rest of the crazies who run the Rook Islands.
The brand new story trailer, below, features villains Hoyt and Vaas as well as the clearly insane Dr. Earnhardt, and shows the lengths Jason is prepared to go to in order to rescue his friends.
Far Cry 3 is set for release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on November 30 in the UK and Europe.
