FIFA Becomes the First Games Series to Bring in £1 Billion at UK RetailIt shouldn’t surprise me, really. It shouldn’t surprise anyone. But, with every passing year, FIFA never seems to lose its lustre with the games buying public.

The EA Sports franchise has made the record books by netting £1 billion in sales, as GFK Chart-Track revealed to CVG. Last year’s FIFA 13 is the series’ best selling effort, with its predecessor FIFA 12 coming in a close second place. With 40 games under its belt (since GFK Chart-Track began in 1996), its dominance on the British market can be seen on the weekly charts and in the libraries of gamers across the United Kingdom.

Even with Call of Duty always breathing down its neck, FIFA is £200 million ahead of the FPS in terms of money at retail, with the Mario series coming in third place. No doubt about it, FIFA is still king.

FIFA 13 is available now for Windows PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo 3DS, iOS and Android
