The Xbox One From the Designers Perspective

by on June 1, 2013

Microsoft have just sent over a new ViDoc, that you can see below, which features a few of the brainy bunch behind the new Xbox One console. Turns out a lot of thought goes into designing a relatively simple looking box.

The video goes into detail on everything from prototypes to the organic pigments used to create the deepest black possible for the Xbox itself and the Kinect sensor. Scott Dallmeyer, Senior Industrial Designer at Xbox, shares a couple of really interesting new points on the new Xbox One controller, chief of which is the inclusion of motors behind the primary triggers on the rear of the controller. You know the ones, the shooty bang bang buttons? With me now? Good. The new motors are a new way of delivering feedback to the player, so you’ll feel the recoil of that rifle on Call of Duty just a little bit better on Xbox One.

Check out the video for yourselves below.
