Yakuza 5 May Be Getting A Western Translation From Atlus

by on February 3, 2014

Yakuza 5 may have been released in Japan way back in December 2012, but that hasn’t dampened the spirits of Yakuza fans in the West – they are still clamouring for the release of the fifth entry in the series in North America and Europe. Now, if rumours are to be believed, Atlus may be working on a translation for the game.

Allgamesbeta.com have posted a quote from the latest copy of Electronic Gaming Monthly, where the author drops the rumour that the recently-acquired Japanese studio may already be working on a Westernised version of Yakuza 5. SEGA had previously ruled out a translation – despite quite large protestations from fans – but it appears that now perhaps they have had a change of heart, now that the project could be farmed out to Atlus.

The Yakuza games have always suffered from long delays in coming to Europe and North America, but they have always arrived eventually. Therefore we can only hope that these rumours are true, and that we will finally see the last PS3 entry into the series on Western shores.
