Point and Click adventure games were once an everpresent, popular genre. New takes on things – like L.A. Noire – have come and gone, but the original remains the best, which is what we have here, in Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle.
Join us in this edition of First Look as we watch the opening scenes of the game before spending some time with a young Morgane, helping her to do chores and try and solve the most basic of puzzles. Here’s a clue: We fail!
Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle is a very pretty looking game that evokes memories of the Discworld and Monkey Island series of games. With a tongue in cheek humour style (seriously, why is there a crossbow on the wall if we can’t touch it?) and traditional item combination-style of gameplay, adventure game fans should definitely be interested in this title. The added move compatibility for PlayStation 3 – the version we’re looking at here – makes it even more compelling as a value proposition.
Stay tuned for our full review of the title, but for now let Martin Baker and myself guide you through the opening 10 or so minutes of Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle. If you’re still after more Morgane in your life, check out our preview from back in September 2011.
