Dead Space 3 launches in North America today and EA have already announced the game’s first campaign add-on, titled; Awakened.
As reported by Eurogamer, Visceral Games boss Steve Papoutsis touted that in Awakened, “gamers will experience some of the most disturbing content they have ever seen in a Dead Space game. They are going to love it.”
EA’s official line backs up Papoutis’ claims, describing Dead Space 3 Awakened as containing the series’ “darkest chapters as the Necromorph battles become even more gruesome and terrifying than ever before.”
The DLC will launch sometime in March costing 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360 and $9.99 on Playstation 3 and Windows PC. Details on the actual content of the DLC are, for the moment, non-existent. You’ll just have to ponder on Papoutis and EA’s grisly omens for the time being.
Considering this is a series that has never shied away from the disturbing – scythe armed space zombie children, need I say more? – the mind boggles at just what developers Visceral have been cooking up. Adam’s Dead Space 3 review has sold me on the game even though I had substantial worries pertaining to the horror, so hopefully Awakened will be a solid chunk of DLC to pick up next month.
Dead Space 3 will be released on February 8 in Europe and is available now in North America for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Windows PC.
