Apple Announces The All-New Apple TV

by on September 10, 2015

Yesterday Apple finally announced a new Apple TV model. The All-New Apple TV has an App Store, Siri, runs tvOS, and is headed for your living room.

The last generation (3rd generation) Apple TV used a single core A5 chip while this has an A8 and supports local storage up to 64GB. It even supports Siri and has an all new remote with a gyroscope and accelerometer that can be used for gaming. That’s right. The new Apple TV lets you play games and even supports the MFI controllers that work with iOS since iOS 7.

The new remote has a touch surface as well for navigation and is a welcome improvement over the last generation one.

The new Apple TV will be available at the end of October in a 32GB and 64GB model from Apple’s online store, retail stores, and authorized resellers. Pricing will be announced then for the UK while it costs $149 and $199 for the 32GB and 64GB models respectively in USA.

When it comes to games, Steel Series has already announced a controller for Apple TV and Apple even showed off amazing games like Transistor and a bit of Guitar Hero Live and Disney Infinity. I’m excited for it and look forward to replacing my 2nd generation Apple TV with this next month.
